Hull - Japan Tsunami Appeal Initial Proposal
Hull - Japan Tsunami Appeal
Event proposal for April 2011
Fundraising event working with a Japanese community in Hull and East Yorkshire.

Aim of the Event:
As the result of the earthquakes and tsunami hit in Japan on 11th March 2011, approximately 7,500 people died, more than 17,000 are still missing, and 335,000 are evacuated and looking for a place to live (20th March 2011, reported from Asahi.com). We aim to work together to raise donation towards the disastrous event occurred in Japan.
This Charity Fundraising Event will work closely with the British Red Cross and all donated money will go to the Japan Red Cross through the British Red Cross. Additionally, we aim to encourage people to understand Japanese society, culture and what is now happening in the country through our activity. Students of Japanese language modules as well as Japanese students here in the University of Hull will help to organise and participate in the event.
Update: 22nd March 2011 http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/
9199 people died, more than 13,000 are still missing, and 335,000 are evacuated.
